Purpose
Engineered for the hardest work on site
The D550H was developed for the jobs that never stop: large open-pit and quarry operations, overburden and rock stripping, and major earthworks where downtime is expensive. Every system is specified for high load, long hours and abrasive, hard material.

Danfoss Hydrostatic System
Among the world’s top hydraulic systems, with dual-motor drive, automatic response, high transmission efficiency and long service life. Speed and torque adjust automatically to the load for ideal operating conditions.
American Durst Transfer Case
Heavy-duty ball bearings and a multi-stage gear train with a single connection port provide higher reliability and better maintainability under sustained high load.
Structure
A structure built around performance
The overall machine and its major components are optimized so power reaches the ground and the structure survives the impact.
Elevated drive layout
The final-drive gears are placed high, away from direct ground impact, which improves their working environment and extends service life.
More track rollers
Sixteen track rollers in total (eight per side), more than typical same-class dozers, give a longer ground contact, lower ground pressure and higher load-bearing capacity.
Thickened-plate welding
The main frame adopts thickened, single-groove welded box structure using high-strength materials for long life and trouble-free operation.
Integral solid forging
The balance beam is an integral solid forging with heat treatment, offering higher load capacity and reliability than plate or cast parts.
Optimized center of gravity
The overall layout positions the center of gravity for stability and maximum power output in any working location.
Quality hydraulic components
Danfoss piston pumps and control valves avoid the contamination that gear-pump wear can introduce, protecting the entire hydraulic system.

Higher-level driving performance
Full-electric control
Blade, travel and ripper functions are commanded through electronic single-handle control, with an optional three-handle layout. Operation is light-handed with good micro-controllability, plus load-sensing throttle modes.
Comfortable, quiet cab
An integrated sealed cab on four-point vibration damping with internal FOPS/ROPS, an air-suspended heated seat with multi-way adjustment, heating and cooling air conditioning, and low noise for long shifts.
Serviceability
All-around easy-maintenance design
Cab tilts back 45°
Without disconnecting wires or pipes, the cab tilts backward to expose the upper hydraulic, electrical and transmission parts for inspection and repair.
Ground-level access
Hinged bottom protection plates, maintenance windows, three-section front grille and a ring of guarded platforms make inspection and refuelling safe and quick.
